Bankruptcy does not have to be an option when you are trying to eliminate your credit card debt. After doing some research and I have found that the new stimulus package allows you to erase your debt if you have over $10,000.

Unfortunately I had a little over $10,000 and so I was able to qualify. But not all people will.

Bankruptcy is one of the last things that you should consider when dealing with your debts. Why is this? Once you appear in front of a judge and explain your situation, you may or may not be able to have your debts removed that are revolving.

Filing bankruptcy is not a sure shot that will eliminate your credit card debt, especially debts that have been created in the last 90 days.

This is why we do not recommend that you go to your local courthouse and file papers yet. This in itself can cause a turn of events that will make your credit score unfavorable. No lawyer can tell you if you are able to get your debts erased through bankruptcy, so it is best to exhaust every conceivable choice you have before you decide to file.
